Dora tells Ademir that her husband helped condemn an innocent woman. Lyris advises Adriana to stay away from Nancy. Adriana says that she also loves Pedro and that this budding love gives her hope. Pedro definitively cuts off his relationship with Ademir. Pilar surprises Otoniel and his family, kicking them all out of Arthur's house.

A hardworking physical therapist, Adriana is facing multiple challenges at once. After being fired from the clinic where she works, her house is hit by a flood that ends up killing her husband, Carlos. Now homeless and struggling to support her family, Adriana starts working for the Brandãos, a traditional wealthy family from São Paulo, as the caregiver for Artur, the grumpy patriarch.
